Lighting Design for an Ancient Temple: A Tribute to History and Culture

With its millennia-old history, this temple stands as a valuable part of our nation’s cultural heritage. Given its historical significance, the lighting designers at Shamim Company began the project by conducting thorough research on the beliefs and traditions of the region’s ancient inhabitants. Their goal was to use lighting not only for illumination but also to narrate a fragment of the life and faith of those who once lived here.

In 2006, when this project was undertaken, lighting sources were not as diverse as they are today. Therefore, warm yellow and orange lights—symbolizing fire and the essence of life—were chosen to illuminate the temple. This approach ensured that the remaining massive columns and the ruins of the grand temple stood out prominently, allowing visitors to appreciate its historical grandeur.

Additionally, short-post lamps were installed to illuminate the temple’s surroundings. This not only enhanced the area’s beauty but also provided functional lighting while preventing glare, creating a visually harmonious atmosphere that complemented the temple’s timeless presence.
